Introduce yourself!:)
Hi I’m Paula Mullikin and I live with a wonderful understanding husband and a menagerie of pets in Western North Carolina.

Tell us a bit about your business...
My business is IslandTop Glass Art, I am very lucky to have a home studio where I create handmade lampwork glass beads. I love making fun bright, bold beads and I get a lot of inspiration from my pets and you can see this in my dog, cat and bird beads that I offer in my Esty Shop.

What inspired you to start your etsy shop?
Drawers, boxes and jars full of beads :-) Really when I first start doing lampwork beads it was like many hobbies I’ve done in the past…a hobby. But there was something about glass that captured me and I knew it was going to be more then a hobby, it became a passion. When I started selling I did craft shows and realized that was not for me and needed to find a venue where I could work from home. It’s very exciting to be able to create and sell from the comfort of my home and studio.

When you're not being crafty, what do you do?
Hubby and I are foodies and love entertaining other foodies.
I also spend a lot of time with my pets Ruby & Sidney 2 parrots, Sadie & Henry 2 Mastiffs, Tony & Samantha 2 cats. Ooh and to keep food in the dinner bowls I manage both residential and commercial property.

What’s your favorite book, song, movie & website?
Oh this list could go on and on. Music anything from the 70’s that takes be back to my “Free Spirit Years”
Being a foodie of course I check out all the recipe sites and blogs. As for books I think I’ve read all of Jodi Picoult, Patricia Cornwell, Sandra Brown and right how I’m reading The Space Between Us by Thrity Umrigar. Corny I know but give me a box of tissues and the movie “The Way We Were” with Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford, that would be my all time favorite movie…gosh was he sexy or what.

How do you promote your work?
I have a website http://www.islandtopglassart.com that shows people where I can be found on the internet. I am learning that social networking is very important on the internet and I have Twitter (PaulaNC) and Facebook (Paula Mullikin) along with visiting the trade forums. So Twitter me and I’ll follow or Facebook me and we can be friends.

What are your short-term & long-term goals?
I’ve never been one to set goals, so I guess my life goal was and is learning and improving.

Tell us something random about you!
Ooh my… random about me let’s see, I don’t like pea soup, pasticcio pudding, or green Jello but green is my favorite color. :-)
